1990 - 1991	All Japan National Kart A2 series, winning the championship in 1990 and finishing 2nd 1991.
1992	Two wins in Formula Toyota series.
1993	Competed in the All Japan Formula 3 Championship, ranked 10th.
1994	Finished 5th in Formula 3 and was given an opportunity in the All Japan F3000 Championship with Nakajima Planning.
1995	Ranked 2nd in the All Japan F3000 Championship with Nakajima Planning scoring three wins, two pole positions and two fastest laps.
1996	Competed in the All Japan Formula Nippon Championship with Nakajima Planning. Finished in 4th place, after two wins, four poles and one fastest lap.

1997	Official test driver for the Tyrrell Formula 1 team and contested selected rounds of the Porsche Pirelli Supercup at Grand Prix meetings. He continued in the All Japan Formula Nippon series with Nakajima Planning, where to date he has secured four pole positions, winning at Suzuka in July.
