

Who is Beat Zehnder?
Sauber's team manager Beat Zehnder did not like motor racing before he started working as a mechanic. The Swiss said, "I was never interested! I always said it was quite stupid to sit in front of the television watching it. I thought people like that must be quite crazy."
He worked on big marine engines but got bored. In 1988, he saw an advertisement in a newspaper that said Sauber needed mechanics and he decided to do it for one year.
Zehnder thought it might be interesting to travel the world. He said, "then suddenly this virus came over me." The most exciting thing for him is the teamwork. He said, "What gives me the motivation is the teamwork. It is exceptional what is going on here, what young people can do in a sort time."
The 31-year-old Zurich born team manger was chief mechanic before moving up the ranks.

Austrian Gerhard Berger retired from Formula One at the end of the 1998 Formula One season, which ended at Jerez in Spain in 1998.
He is one of just a few drivers who completed a double century of races. Other drivers that managed it, was Riccardo Petrese, Andrea de Cesaris and Nelson Piquet.
Berger scored 10 wins during his 14-year career in the sport. He drove for Benetton, Ferrari and McLaren. He said the win at Hockenheim in German in 1998 was the most special win of his career.
Berger will work for BWM as the German carmaker develop its Formula One engines.
