Following are facts and figures about the Jordan motor racing team ahead of the 1998 formula One season -

Formula One record:

Starts - 114

Poles - 1

Race wins - 0

1997 season - Fifth in constructors championship with 33 points.

History:

1980 - Eddie Jordan Racing founded.

1987 - Won British Formula Three title with Johnny Herbert.

1989 - Won International F3000 title with Jean Alesi.

1991 - Founded Jordan Grand Prix.

Prospects for the 1998 season:

Jordan 198 powered by Mugen-Honda engine, Goodyear tyres.

Eddie Jordan is desperate for his first win in Formula One and believes former world champion Graham Hill and Ralf Schumacher, the brother of another former champion, will provide it this season. Hill takes over from Giancarlo Fisichella and his experience will be vital in keeping the team -- and the impetuous Schumacher -- on track. In testing, Schumacher has been consistently faster than Hill. The investment in Hill is matched by that in a wind tunnel and new technologies such as a simulation rig. In the off-season the team switched from a Peugeot engine to Mugen Honda power and, after initial tests, Hill said he was delighted with its handling.

Drivers:

Damon Hill - Aged 37, British. Races - 84, wins 21, poles 20. World champion in a Williams in 1996. Finished in 13th place in 1997 with seven points.

Never quite accepted as a driver of the highest class, Hill suffered a dreadful season with Arrows in 1997 after holding off Michael Schumacher and Williams teammate Jacquest Villeneuve to win the drivers crown in 1996. He shares top billing with Schumacher and some question whether he will motivated by the abrasive German or ground down. He was publicly criticised by Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw last year for not driving like a champion as he appeared to sulk over the car's poor performance. The oldest driver on the circuit, Hill does not have the instinctive skills of Michael Schumacher but is a smooth, cool driver under pressure.

Ralf Schumacher - Aged 22, German. Races 17, wins 0, poles 0. Finished in 12th place in 1997 with 13 points.

Younger brother of the best driver in formula one, Michael, Schumacher is often overeager -- some would say arrogant -- to make his mark on the track. Took his brother off the track at Nuerburgring on opening corner. Given leave from military service to continue racing with Jordan for whom he scored a third place in the Argentine grand prix in his first season. Will undoubtedly feed off Hill's experience.
