Candida yeast and Malesezzia yeast - a relationship?

(by John Kender)

There is some relationship between Candida, which causes things like
vaginal yeast infections, and Malassezia, which is the yeast I suspect
is involved with TTM. Both seem to grow more when the diet includes
sugar and caffeine, and during the premenstrual surge of the hormone
progesterone. However, malassezia seems specifically adapted to the
greasy environment of the skin itself, and foods rich the fatty
substances like sterols and lecithins (egg yolks, peanuts, soy) seem
to enhance Malassezia growth, but not Candida growth.

Thus, the punch line is that an anti-Candida diet would do only part
of the job for TTM; it appears also necessary to get rid of the
additional foods. So, many people who cut out only sugar and caffeine
have reported getting some benefit, and therfore an anti-Candida diet
is a good step in the right direction. But the full job only seems to
happen when people work on decreasing chocolate, eggs, legumes, etc.
