COMPOSITION:
Each 5 mL contains:

	Pipradrol hydrochloride	0,67 mg
	Thiamine hydrochloride	3,33 mg
	Riboflavine	1,67 mg
	Pyridoxine hydrochloride	0,33 mg
	Niacinamide	16,67 mg
	Choline*	33,33 mg
	Inositol*	33,33 mg
	Calcium glycerophosphate	33,33 mg
	Manganese, magnesium, zinc and molybdenum each	0,33 mg
	(supplied as manganese sulphate, magnesium acetate, zinc acetate and ammonium molybdate)*
	Alcohol        2,25 mL (15% v/v)
	Butylparaben 0,0023%	added as preservative

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 22.1 Multivitamins with minerals.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
The alerting agent in Alertonicis pipradol hydrochloride which has a mild central nervous stimulant effect.
The Vitamin B Complex vitamins which are contained in this preparation are essential for normal metabolism. It is suggested that Vitamin B1 (thiamine hydrochloride) may help appetite and affect gastrointestinal function. Vitamin B2 (riboflavine) is essential for normal carbohydrate metabolism. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) is essential for amino-acid and fat metabolism. Niacinamide is essential for normal body metabolism. The trace elements contained in Alertonic supplement the normal daily nutritional need. Alcohol stimulates salivary and gastric juice secretion and serves as a rapidly assimilated source of energy.

INDICATIONS:
Alertonic is recommended for patients with functional or psychogenic fatigue. This frequently occurs in the absence of organic disease, during convalesence, the post-partum period and following infections, especially those of viral origin. Fatigue may also be present due to a nutritional deficiency which may occur in patients with an inadequate food intake or incorrect eating habits, in geriatric patients who have lost interest in food or in patients with, or recovering from, a debilitating illness or other stressful situations.
Alertonic is indicated as a dietary supplement in nutritional fatigue when such fatigue is caused by a deficiency of those vitamins, minerals and trace elements supplied by Alertonic. While Alertonic cannot be expected to influence the basic course of a disease state, it can be useful as adjunctive therapy in combating fatigue resulting from emotional or nutritional causes.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
As with other medications with central-nervous-system stimulating action, Alertonic is contraindicated in hyperactive, agitated, or severely anxious patients, and in chorea or obsessive-compulsive states.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Adults: 3 medicine measurefuls (15 mL).
Children over 15 years : 1 - 2 medicine measurefuls.
Children 4 - 15 years: 1 medicine measureful.
To be taken three times daily 30 minutes before meals.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Some patients may experience mild central stimulant side effects.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Overdoses of pipradrol hydrochloride cause nausea, anxiety, insomnia and abdominal pain, but these symptoms usually disappear when the drug is withdrawn. In severe cases convulsions may occur. One adult patient survived after a single dose of 250 mg by mouth and 2½ year-old child survived after a single dose of 15 mg by mouth.
In case of overdose, gastric lavage, supportive therapy and sedation (with caution) is recommended.

IDENTIFICATION:
Reddish-brown liquid with a fruity odour.

PRESENTATION:
Alertonic is available in 200 mL and 350 mL amber glass bottles.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C and, as with all medication, keep out of the reach of children.
