PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
4 : local anaesthetics
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Local anaesthetic. Clove Oil applied topically is used as a local analgesic for carious cavities and exposed tooth pulps. Phenol Liquid has an analgesic effect by causing paralysis of the sensory nerve endings. (Goodman & Gilman 6th Edition).
INDICATIONS:
Temporary relief of toothache
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Contra-indicated in patients with Phenol or Clove Oil sensitivity.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
A small quantity to be applied on cotton wool (and used either as a swab or plug, to be inserted into the cavity).
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Repeated application may damage the gingival tissues. The product is recommended for temporary relief of pain only and should not be used for longer than 48 hours before consulting a dentist.

A glass perfume bottle with bakelite screwcap packed in outer cardboard carton.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Keep well closed and store below 30°C away from direct light and out of reach of children.
