COMPOSITION:
Each 5 mL contains
Promethazine HCl         3,0 mg
Ephedrine HCl         7,0 mg
Codeine Phosphate         9,2 mg
With preservatives
Methyl Hydroxybenzoate         0,1%
Propyl Hydroxybenzoate         0,01%

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
10.1 (Antitussives and Expectorants)

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Promethazine acts as an antihistamine while Ephedrine HCl has a bronchodilating action. Codeine Phosphate has antitussive properties.

INDICATIONS:
For the relief of coughs associated with respiratory infection, bronchospasm and allergy.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Contra-indicated in diabetes, alcoholism, severe hypertension and hypersensitivity to antihistamines.

WARNINGS:
This medicine may lead to drowsiness and impaired concentration, which is aggravated by simultaneous intake of alcohol or other central nervous system depressant agents.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth may occur. Codeine, in addition, may cause gastro-intestinal upsets. Promethazine may potentiate the action of sedatives and tranquilisers while Ephedrine may have CNS stimulatory effects.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Large doses of antihistamines causes sedation varying from slight drowsiness to deep sleep, also dizziness, muscular weakness and inco-ordination. In infants and children the antihistamines often act as cerebral stimulants and may cause hyperpyrexia and convulsions.
Do not use histamine as an antidote for antihistamine poisoning. In a known case of overdosage. empty the stomach by gastric lavage.
Large doses of Ephedrine causes insomnia, increased hypertension, dilated pupils nausea, vomiting, extrasystoles, tachycardia, AB-blocker may be given to overcome heart stimulation and a CNS depressant may be given to overcome CNS stimulation.
Codeine Phosphate causes constipation, respiratory depression, histamine release, drowsiness, sedation, pinpoint pupils, CNS depression. Treatment could include catharsis, gastric lavage. Naloxone is a known antidote for Codeine.

IDENTIFICATION:
Pale amber syrupy liquid.

PRESENTATION:
Packs of 100 mL and 2,5 L.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C and protect from light.
