PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: A: 16.4 Naso-pharyngeal and bucco-pharyngeal antiseptics
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Hexetidine has a mild antiseptic activity.
INDICATIONS: Because of its affinity for dental plaque and oral mucous membrane, and its long duration of action, Oraldine Mouthwash is suited as an aid in the treatment of oral infections such as: gingivitis, periodontitis, dental ulcers and halitosis. Oraldine Mouthwash can also be of value as an adjuvant to systemic therapy in pharyngitis.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Rinse mouth and/or gargle with three to six medicine measuresful (15 mL to 30 mL), undiluted three times daily. Retain in mouth for at least 30 seconds. Use more often if necessary.
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Allergic contact dermatitis and alterations in taste and smell have been reported. Discolouration of the teeth especially in smokers has been reported with long-term use.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT: Toxic symptoms observed are irritation of the gastro-intestinal tract and cyanosis. Treatment: Either gastric lavage should be performed providing vomiting has not occurred or milk can be given to delay gastric absorption until medical help arrives. An emetic can be given such as common salt solution (three medicine measuresful of salt per glass of warm water). A child's nose should be pinched to make it swallow.
IDENTIFICATION: A bright red liquid with a characteristic taste, free from suspended particles or sediment.
PRESENTATION:FS Bottles of 200 mL.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Store in a cool (below 25°C), dry place. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
