COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains:
Yellow Phenolphthalein   270 mg

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A. 11.5 Laxatives

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
The primary laxative action is exerted on the colon, but the activity of the small intestine may also increase. Some of the drug absorbed from the intestine may be excreted in the bile. This may contribute to the prolongation of the cathartic effect. Goodman and Gilman "The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics" (Fifth Edition).

INDICATIONS:
SB Strong-Lax Tablets are recommended as an effective laxative for the relief of constipation in adults and children over the age of fifteen.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Undiagnosed abdominal pains, nausea or vomiting, and patients with intestinal obstruction. Should prolonged use of laxatives become necessary, your doctor should be consulted.
S.B. Strong-Lax tablets are contraindicated for children under fifteen yeas of age. Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
One tablet with water at night when necessary.

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Allergic reaction, including fixed drug eruption, Steven-Johnson Syndrome and Lupus Erythematosus have been reported. Goodman and Gilman "The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics" (Fifth Edition). In the event of skin eruption in sensitive individuals treatment with Phenolphthalein should be discontinued immediately, and such individuals should avoid further exposure to Phenolphthalein.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVER DOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
The major danger of Phenolphthalein overdosage is fluid and electrolyte deficits resulting from excessive cathartic effect. Goodman & Gilman "The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics" (Fifth Edition). Food and electrolyte replacement is indicated in such cases.

Yellow quadrisected tablet, convex bottom.

PRESENTATION:
10 tablets, cellophane wrapped in a cardboard carton.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
